VLE
Doncaster North CLC has been working with local Secondary and Primary schools in setting up an exciting new initiative- the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). A virtual learning environment is a software system designed to support teaching and learning in schools. It works over the Internet and offers a variety of tools such as:
- Provides teachers and students with a personalized working space
- Provides an area for wider learning beyond the classroom environment
- Provides access to an increased number of resources from a wide variety of sources at any time
- Enhances the learning experience by promoting innovative ways of learning.
- Allows for online assessment (particularly of types that can be marked automatically, such as multiple choice), communication, uploading of content, return of students work, administration of student groups, collecting and organising student grades
Designed and hosted by Durham University business school and their Virtual Centre, the VLE provides a safe environment in which students and staff can share resources and work together.
Our partner school, Don Valley School and Performing Arts College, and 9 primary feeder schools have fully embraced this exciting initiative and we look forward to developing it further in the future.
