Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Continuing professional development (CPD) is key to the development of the teaching profession. Providing appropriate CPD activities boosts the esteem and professionalism of the teaching community and allows education to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Doncaster North City Learning Centre offers an extensive range of training courses for educators, which help to develop skills at all levels. Our friendly and experienced team are able to support school staff in their ICT training needs.

Hallam PGCE Student Training

Doncaster North City Learning Centre are pleased to work closely with Sheffield Hallam University in providing ICT training for the PGCE students. This allows them to develop skills in using the interactive whiteboard in their teaching placements and also offers them an opportunity to update their skills in a range of software packages before commencing teaching. This partnership has flourished in 2007/8 and will continue in 2008/9.

Doncaster Graduate Teacher Placement (GTP) Training

Doncaster North City Learning Centre also works in conjunction with the Graduate Teacher Placement service to ensure their graduates have an opportunity to gain the necessary ICT skills at the same time as being in teaching placements in schools. This includes interactive whiteboard training and general training in a range of Microsoft software applications and other relevant packages to suit their needs. This partnership commenced in 2007/8 and is continuing in 2008/9.

Teacher and  Classroom Support Training

Doncaster North City Learning Centre supports Doncaster primary schools in providing ICT training to increase skills. Interactive whiteboard training sessions can be tailored to the specific needs of staff and are aimed at both teaching staff and assistants. Daytime and evening sessions of 1-2 hours can be arranged to suit.
