British Computer Society (BCS) IT User Certificate Level 2

Doncaster North City Learning Centre has delivered a program across Secondary Schools with the Doncaster Local Authority targeted at Year 11 borderline Grade C students to deliver this GCSE Grade B equivalent qualification- the European Computer Driving Licence.  Almost 1000 qualifications have been gained in a 2 year period. We are highly delighted with this success rate which has enabled so many learners to improve their qualification status and has led to improved attainment throughout the authority.

In addition, the program has been used to support staff development to 4 secondary schools to over 25 staff.  In support of our objective to allow all students access to the course, we have offered a dedicated course at the Young Parents Centre in Doncaster. All participants completed the course successfully.

Courses are run over a 5 day period and consist of 5 modules:

  • Word Processing
  • Spreadsheets
  • Databases
  • Electronic Presentation
  • Knowledge

Each student completes diagnostic testing to determine their current knowledge base followed by personalised training, utilising on-line training materials and on-line testing.  An intensive course is delivered in a dedicated room with specialist tutors.
