Technology Reporters for a Day!

Dated: 15/12/2009

In November we were delighted to host a 3 day event for Year 6 pupils focusing on English and Media skills. Participating Primary schools were Castle Hills, Sunnyfields, Toll Bar, Kirkby Avenue, Bentley High Street and Bentley New Village.  The pupil brief was to prepare a 2 minute movie giving an account of how technology has changed the way we learn.  They began by interviewing teachers, other students in the City Learning Centre as well as Reception staff and Technicians, who all gave their opinions on modern technology in the school and workplace. To find out how pupils of years gone by prepared their school work, they did some research on the internet and found some more traditional methods of learning- blackboards and chalk and heavy encyclopoedias! They then used the ILife suite on the Apple Macintosh computers to edit the video footage and to make a movie using IMovie. Some excellent filming meant high quality movies were made, starring some budding actors in the making!  The pupils had a great few days and realised how fortunate they are to have such amazing technology in their schools to help them learn!
