International Event
Dated: 12/10/2009
On September 29th Doncaster North CLC was pleased to host its first international day event, with participating students from Doncaster and Drachten, Holland. Five secondary schools in Doncaster chose to take part - Don Valley, Hall Cross, Hungerhill, Rossington and North Doncaster Technology College, each school bringing 5 students. Drachten secondary school in Holland was chosen to participate in a friendly competition against the Doncaster teams. The day began with pupils taking part in an interactive Maths quiz, where they worked in small groups to solve problems. Video conferencing and Skype allowed Doncaster and Drachten pupils and teachers to communicate with each other. The Pupils then presented their solutions to the problems to each other displaying good team working and communication skills.
In the afternoon, pupils participated in a multi-media activity, where they focused on creating a movie to illustrate their school and community. Apple Macs were used for this activity and the i-Life package allowed the pupils to produce some excellent movie clips.
Thanks to all the students twho took part and a special thanks to Drachten teachers for preparing the materials used in the quiz. We hope everyone enjoyed the day and we look forward to other similar events in the future.
