Hallam University PGCE Training
Dated: 08/10/2009
Doncaster North CLC were delighted to once again welcome the Hallam University PGCE students from both the ICT and Business Studies Departments. Around 55 ICT graduates and 36 Business Studies graduates attended 5 different days of training as part of their PGCE programme of study, designed to give them both theoretical and practical knowledge to facilitate their preparation for teaching practice. First to attend were the ICT graduates on September 18th to a Diploma Day programme. Students received information about the new Diploma qualifications and completed assessment tasks to gain knowledge about the structure of the programme. This was followed by interactive whiteboard training on September 25th, where training focussed on providing students with the necessary skills to prepare effective teaching resources using the Smartboard. Some excellent, innovative presentations were produced by the students who had a most enjoyable day. The final day's training for the ICT graduates on October 2nd focussed on the Key Stage 3 curriculum, when they learned how to assess students' work , as well as plan schemes of work and lesson plans for various units of work.
The Business Studies graduates attended their first training day on September 21st, when they also focussed on the requirements of the Key Stage 3 curriculum. This was followed on October 13th by training on how to use the Macromedia programs of Flash and Dreamweaver.
We would like to thank all the Hallam University PGCE students for attending the training days and contributing enthusiastically in all the sessions. We wish them the best of luck in their future teaching careers.
